Shatavari is an Ayurvedic herb, one of the most commonly used in India for women to balance the reproductive tissues and hormones. Used for the mood swings and irritability of PMS, menopausal hot flashes, fertility, it is an herb of such potency that it is translated as “she who possesses 100 husbands”. Research has focused on its immune stimulating properties, as well as its anti-inflammatory properties. I personally like to make a warm milk at night to help deepen my sleep and reduce hot flashes. Here is the tasty recipe:
4 oz. unsweetened almond milk, warmed
1 tsp shatavari powder
pinch of ginger powder
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
honey or agave to taste
While the milk is warming, measure your powders and drop them into a mug. Once the milk has warmed, add a small amount to the powders to make them into a paste. Slowly add the rest of the milk, stirring as you go so that the herbs become well blended into the milk. Add the honey or agave as needed.
